Michael Coccari

Michael Coccari is the author of the memoir, It's Good to Say Thank You, which will be published in March of 2022 by Köehler Books.  His first book of non-fiction, Cancer Fight, details his wife’s courageous seven-year battle against stage 4-breast cancer and his experiences as caregiver. He's spent the bulk of his professional life teaching English, first in Osaka, Japan for two years and then for 33 years at Arvin High School, located in California’s central valley. His proudest professional achievement is helping students, the majority of whom were studying English as a second language, find their voices and develop their competency as writers, deepen their humanity through the study of literature, and discover life directions through introspective writing and analyzing literary characters. Cancer Fight was the subject of an interview and podcast on nationally syndicated I Heart Radio /Daily Spark Show hosted by Dr. Angela Chester; a segment on TV station KBAK/Fox
58, an affiliate of CBS News in Bakersfield, CA; and an article in Tehachapi News, a weekly
newspaper in Tehachapi, CA.
